Camp Garrison

The 2024 Family Overnight Camping Trip at Camp Garrison will take place from April 19 to April 21, 2024.

Click here for the full schedule, and more information is below.

Camp Garrison is a themed Cub Scout Camp at Musser Scout Reservation, which is located along the Unami Creek on over 1,400 acres of Marlborough Township, Pennsylvania. It is part of the largest contiguous forest in Southeastern Pennsylvania.

To accommodate everyone, we have several options for attending. Choose the one that works best for your family:

Come up on Friday evening and sleep over (in a tent at Native American site, or bunk at Fort Akela) until Sunday morning.

OR

Just come for Friday or Saturday evening, or only for the day Saturday. Saturday is when most of the activities take place. If you do, plan to arrive by 9:00AM in order to meet up with us and hike to the creek for fishing. Lunch will be provided on Saturday, and you should bring your own dinner on Friday evening, and ingredients for a “foil pack” dinner on Saturday. All other meals, snacks and s’more supplies will be provided. The day’s activities should wrap up by 9PM.

WHEN

We’ll be at Camp Garrison from Friday, April 19 to Sunday, April 21, 2024.

WHERE

Camp Garrison is located at 4021 Upper Ridge Rd., Pennsburg, PA 18073.

This year, we’ll be camping at the Fort Akela and Native American campsites at Camp Garrison. These campsites have a pavilion with tables and a kitchen (including stove and refrigerator), and full bathrooms.

SCHEDULE

We’ll be at Camp Garrison from 5:30 pm on Friday through 9:30 am on Sunday. On Saturday, we will leave at 9:30 am for a hike to the Unami Creek to fish, return to camp for lunch, then in the afternoon work on requirements and also participate in other activities such as the BB gun range (Tigers and older only), skit planning, knot-tying, games and more. We wrap up Saturday evening with a campfire with skits, songs, jokes and s’more! See here for the schedule.

WHAT TO PACK

See here for a list of what to pack for Camp Garrison. The parking lot at Camp Garrison isn’t more than a couple hundred yards from the campsite, so your vehicle will be accessible throughout our stay.

This year, we’ll have options for tent camping (Native American site) or staying in a bunk (Fort Akela). If tent camping, you will need to bring your own tent. Parents must sleep in the same tent or bunk as their children. If staying in a bunk you’ll want to bring a sleeping bag and/or bedding.

PS: Don’t forget fishing gear! On Saturday morning we’ll hike to the Unami Lake and spend our morning fishing!

Adults assisting Scouts to fish do not need a Pennsylvania fishing license. Adults planning on fishing will need a Pennsylvania fishing license.

FOOD

YOU bring dinner for yourself and family on Friday evening, as well as a pre-made “foil pack” meal for you and your family for Saturday dinner. Learn more about foil packs and find some easy recipes here.

THE PACK will provide breakfast and lunch on Saturday, s’mores for the Saturday campfire, and breakfast on Sunday. We will also provide snacks, such a fruit, granola bars and more.
