The 2023 Family Overnight Camping Trip at Camp Garrison will take place from April 21 to April 23, 2023. By popular demand, we’ll be staying at the U.S.S. Cradle of Liberty.
Camp Garrison is a themed Cub Scout Camp at Musser Scout Reservation, which is located along the Unami Creek on over 1,400 acres of Marlborough Township, Pennsylvania. It is part of the largest contiguous forest in Southeastern Pennsylvania.
To accommodate everyone, we have several options for attending. Choose the one that works best for your family:
Tent camp one or both nights. If you have extra tents or need a tent, please let us know on the sign-up – we will do our best to make sure that anyone who needs a tent has access to one.
OR Stay in the U.S.S. Cradle of Liberty bunks one or both nights.
Just come for the day Saturday. This is when most of the activities take place. Plan to arrive by 8:30AM in order to meet up with us at U.S.S. Cradle of Liberty and hike to the creek for fishing. Eat lunch with us. Bring up a foil meal for dinner and stay for the campfire. The day’s activities should wrap up by 9PM.
We’ll be at Camp Garrison from Friday, April 21 to Sunday, April 23, 2023.
Camp Garrison is located at 4021 Upper Ridge Rd., Pennsburg, PA 18073.
We’ll be camping at the U.S.S. Cradle of Liberty campsite at Camp Garrison. This campsite has a pavilion with tables and a kitchen (including stove and refrigerator), and full bathrooms.

We’ll be at Camp Garrison from 6:00pm on Friday through 9:30am on Sunday. On Saturday, we will leave at 8:45am for a hike to the Unami Creek to fish, return to camp for lunch, then in the afternoon work on requirements and also participate in other activities such as the BB gun range, fire building, knife skills, outdoor cooking and hiking. We wrap up Saturday evening with a campfire with skits, songs, jokes and s’more! See here for the schedule.
WHAT TO PACK
See here for a list of what to pack for Camp Garrison. The parking lot at Camp Garrison isn’t more than a couple hundred yards from the campsite, so your vehicle will be accessible throughout our stay.
This year, we’ll be tent camping only. If you have an extra tent, please let us know when signing-up. If you need a tent, let us know that during sign-up as well. Parents must sleep in the same tent as their children.
PS: Don’t forget fishing gear! On Saturday morning we’ll hike to the Unami Lake and spend our morning fishing!
YOU bring a foil pack dinner for each member of your family for dinner Saturday night. Be sure to write your name in Sharpie on the foil! There’s a refrigerator at the campsite where the foil pack dinners can be stored.
THE PACK will provide snacks on Friday night, breakfast and lunch Saturday, s’mores for the Saturday campfire, and breakfast on Sunday. Breakfast on Saturday is usually pancakes. Lunch is usually hot dogs. Breakfast on Sunday is usually leftovers and cold cereal.
For each Scout coming to Camp Garrison, we require completed copies of the following forms. Please bring these forms to camp, and provide to a unit leader or volunteer when requested.
We’ll collect funds to cover the cost of food and supplies after the event. We try our best to keep the total per person cost under $20 if staying the weekend, and less than that if attending Saturday only.
